Local pianist Eunice Frame has been dead for several nearly 70 years and she hasn’t played at the Sampson Theatre for even longer, but some folks think she and some of her friends may be looking to do an encore. The Sampson Theatre’s own pair of ghosts was first discovered two years ago by an architect who was photographing the interior of the building for structural evaluation. When looking at his digital images of the ceiling back at the office, he saw several of the swirls shown here. The ghosts again appeared in a second set of photographs taken two years later by an entirely different person and camera. Unless you believe in the supernatural, the images can’t be explained. Psychics will be meeting very soon at the theatre site and more information and images will be available on line.
We've always sensed that The Sampson Theatre harbored a rich spirit life and that feeling was confirmed when we hosted a paranormal investigation team one cold and eerie night in February. Cindy Newcomb and a team specializing in spirit communications entered a dark and silent theater but found it alive with sights and sounds which were captured on their specialized instruments.
Electronic voice analyzers picked up clearly understandable words and phrases from the Sampson's spirits - thready whispers from long-ignored entities grateful for someone who could finally hear them. Video recorders documented hundreds of excitedly dancing orbs streaking all around us. Cindy described this as positive evidence of "past energy" residing in our theater. They happily greeted our little group, excited to be acknowledged after so many lonely years. Even a few rare, bright blue ectoplasmic orbs were captured on film, swiftly darting amongst us.
Cindy assured us that our residents were extremely pleased with our efforts and the opportunity for the Sampson to once again shine as a premiere place of entertainment and happiness for the community. And we want to do them proud!
